| Planner (Dispatcher) Westcan Bulk Transport Ltd. is a Western Canadian leader in dry and liquid bulk transportation. A new and expanded Operations Centre has opened at Westcan’s Saskatoon Terminal. The centre, responsible for over 400 trucks throughout Western and Northern Canada is looking to fill the following position: Planner (Dispatcher) Qualifications: •Minimum of Grade 12 education, with related training on windows based computer applications. •Effective and Professional communication skills. •Experience in the transportation industry is an asset. Responsibilities: •Match drivers, trucks and trailers to orders based on load requirements, qualifications, and expiries on all resources. •Prepare trailer loading instructions and ensure equipment is loaded to maximum GVW utilizing auto load system. •Ensure delivery instructions are complete and with proper weight or volume units used. •Ensure drivers have adequate hours of service by utilizing TMW log hours. •Establish proper last contents on equipment to ensure planned resources are adequate for next load. •Arrange for equipment to be available for fleet maintenance (Use equipment in and out of service function in conjunction with electronic white board). •Optimize the fleet resources by communicating with all other planners and operation supervisors. •Efficient organizing of all loading and offloading schedules to include all effective parties such as customer loading sites, warehouses, conveyor operators. •Control distribution of loads; determine how many orders can be filled for particular time period and communicate that to the order takers. •Plan route for drivers by adding route or track points as required. •In the event of a diversion, must follow diversion process including overseeing completion of TQM and customer diversion sheets and all supporting documentation by the driver liaison.
